Dursley Male Voice Choir

Welcome to the DMVC
The Dursley Male Voice Choir was founded by a group of enthusiastic local singers in 1978 and has since grown to be one of the principal male voice choirs of Gloucestershire with up to 40 singers drawn from communities around Dursley and the wider Stroud district.

The Choir performs around 8 to 10 concerts each year, the majority of them for charity. As well as local concerts the choir performs at many venues, around the UK and internationally. It has traditionally toured every couple of years. The last was to Edinburgh in October 2024, singing in St Giles Cathedral. We are now greatly looking forward to our next tour to Bergerac in December 2026 as part of the Dursley-Bergerac Twinning venture where, amongst other venues, we will be singing in the Eglise Notre-Dame cathedral, Bergerac City.

The Choir are actively looking for new members. There is no requirement to read music and all singers will be made welcome. We sing a very wide range of music, including Popular, Musical Theatre, Classical, Jazz, Folk and even the odd Sea Shanty! Take a browse of our website to hear our music ('Our Music' tab) It's a great time to come along and give it a try. Click on the link below for more details or join us for a session or two at the Chantry Centre on most Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm and you'll see for yourself what a positive difference singing in a choir will make to your life and wellbeing...... and we'd love to see and welcome you

Chairman's Christmas Message 2025
A very Merry Christmas to you all and I’m so pleased that you’ve chosen to start the festive season with us. I trust you enjoyed our 2025 Christmas Concert where we were delighted to have been rejoined by Hannah Hughes as our soloist.
For me, the year was marked by my extended absence of 4 months while sailing around Great Britain. I must thank the committee and particularly Simon Bilous for managing in my absence. It has been another good year with a successful set of concerts. I was particularly disappointed to miss Manon Browning’s harp playing at our annual concert in May and the significant concert with the Stuart Singers and Mark Llewellyn-Evans in Gloucester Cathedral.
A variety of formal performances as well as continuing our social singing events has marked the choir’s year. In addition to the above events, we held a recital at Bristol Cathedral, had a joint concert with the Caldicot Male Voice Choir for Cam Methodist Church, sang at a wedding at Berkeley Church, arranged and performed at a fund-raising concert for the RNLI and performed at the Poppy Proms here in the Chantry Centre.
We continue to raise funds for charities. Bristol Cathedral, Cam Methodist Church, the Big Space at Cheltenham Hospital, Longfield Hospice and British Legion and the RNLI have been beneficiaries. We estimate that around £8000 has been raised in the last 12 months for these causes. I would like to express my thanks to Dursley Town Council and The Hollies Care Centre (Care UK) that have supported the choir during the year. If you are not a member of our 100 Club and would like to support the choir in this way, look for the details of how to join in this programme. All this help means we can continue to perform free of charge for good causes.
This year Longfield Community Hospice is our chosen charity for collections and there will be collection buckets at the exit after the concert. Last year your generosity raised over £600 for the local foodbank in this way.
We remain on the lookout for new members so if you have any interest do get in contact so that we can have a chat. It’s not as daunting as it might appear. You can also click on link above for more information.
May I take this opportunity to wish you and your families a peaceful and happy Christmas and New Year.
